New! L’Oreal EverCreme Sulfate-Free System

By Angela — June 07, 2012

L’Oreal EverCreme Sulfate-Free Moisture System Review:

I’m basically a good girl. I drink lots of water, eat healthy (relatively) and generally lay off the strong stuff. But my hair is another story. It’s the party girl/I’ll try anything/What’s moderation? alter ego to my basically demure lifestyle. So, as a result it’s endured its share of bleach, hair dye, heat styling, sun exposure, experimental treatments & “honest accidents” this year and it is….in one word, damaged.

I’ve been on the search to find a system that works for my abused hair that would not cost me a fortune. I just don’t find hair products glamorous & I don’t want to pay glamorous prices for them. I’d rather save my splurge cash for the lipsticks!

When I saw this new line of L’Oreal sulfate free products I knew I had to at least give them a try. It’s been nearly two months now. Every time I shampoo, I’ve been alternating the ‘Intense Nourishing Shampoo & Conditioner” duo with the super cool one-step “Cleansing Conditioner”. I’ve also been using the “Nourishing Leave-In Spray” every day.

Although these are drugstore brands, they feel, smell and function like a much higher-end hair care line. They are luxurious. The scent is light and almost tropical, the shampoo is so moisturizing that my hair begins to slip even as I’m massaging it in. The conditioner is just as moisturizing. I’ve been leaving it in for a few minutes while I complete my “shower tasks” then rinsing it out at the end and those extra minutes really give it time to sink in and benefit my strands. The cleansing conditioner works incredibly well. I thought it would be comparable to the popular Wen Cleansing Conditioner sold by Guthy Renker, but it does not coat my hair and weigh it down like the Wen products do. This leaves my hair feeling silky, light and soft. The true gem of this line, so far for me, is the Nourishing Leave-in Spray. This magical, sprayable creme is a beautiful dupe for the amazingly popular cult favorite ”Its a 10″ detangling spray, but at a small fraction of the price.

Over-all, I’m very impressed.  In drugstores now and definitely worth your penny!

Pros:

Sulfate free

Paraben free

Infused with Omega-3 & 6

100% Vegan

Natural botanicals

No harsh salts

Free of heavy waxes that weigh hair down

Incredibly effective at keeping hair clean, manageble & moisturized.

Cons:

If you use a lot of sticky hair products & styling aides, these may not be enough of a clarifying cleanser for you

If your hair is fine or oily, this system might be a bit too moisturizing

Haha! I don't know what my real hair color is anymore either : ) Hope this works for you. The Yes to Carrots Shampoo & Conditioner is also fantastic!

I can definitely identify with your hair situation. Mine is absolutely fried at the moment. That's how I found your youtube channel and websites. I was looking for advice on how to fix this mess. I've also made a pledge to give up the heat styling for awhile and actually go back to my natural hair color (which I cant quite recall at the moment). I will be trying this line because it's affordable. Hope it works! *fingers crossed*

I always tend to shy away from L'Oreal hair products, and I'm not too sure why! After reading this review I'm definitely going to go out and buy the shampoo and conditioner and see how I go!

L'oreal has some amazing products especially their intense eyeliners and their hairspray. I wonder whether this products will leave up to my expectations.

This is a lovely light scent. I find it sort of "tropical". The cleansing condition does not lather, but the shampoo does sort of and I like that. xo

If you like the It's a 10, I think you will love this! They both work exactly the same for my impossible to untangle hair. I haven't tried the regular sulfate free line, but this one has been so wonderful for my hair. It hasn't been this shiny and soft in a long time. Thanks for much for visiting! xo

I do hope that in the future all companies will stop testing on animals and that all third party testing will be a thing of the past as well. Lush is very expensive and I haven't had much luck with them. You might try the Yes to Carrots brand. That is what I have been using for the last year or so before trying this line and it's very, very good.

I love this because it does lather, but without the stripping effects. I switch around a lot too because I can never really find a good shampoo that doesn't cost a fortune. I think you will love this line. xo

I really love the shampoo and conditioner. It makes me hair super shiny and soft without spending a ton. I've never gotten this kind of effect from a drugstore combo before and the leave-in spray is amazing. It detangles my hair perfectly without leaving a film on it. Other detanglers either don't work for my hair or they leave too much residue. Love this stuff.

Great article and review, Angela! i am currently using Wen, and when this product line came out, i wanted to at some point try this, since this is less expensive than Wen. now, i will definitely try it for myself and my two kids to see what they think about it too. i was wondering if there was a scent, and also, whether it was no "suds" like Wen. thanks Angela, love this website in general!

I've been using the regular Loreal sulfate free shampoo/conditioner for a while (the green or purple container) and I really like it. This one looks nice too - maybe just more moisturizing? I will definitely try out that Nourishing Leave-in Spray - I like the its a 10 stuff but it is so expensive! Thanks for the review!

I don't like much L'Oreal because they tested with animals, or that it's the people say about their. Anyway I have the same figth with my hair, and the last time I've started to use the UK brand called Lush, and it's fantastic. In addittion I adore, but it's very expensive, and that can't afford.

I saw this at Target ALMOST ALMOST got it. Im the type of person who never really can the holy grail shampoo. So i switch alot! My hair is very thick and i love it! I do dye my hair black so this seems like it may be a good shampoo for me. I really like lather so i do buy shampoo that has sulfate in it i dye my hair so often because it grows so fast that sulfates don't bother me. But WHEN IM DONE with my hair products i'll definatly give this a go!

I was wondering too, because I loved the WEN, but it did build up quickly & seemed to weigh even my thick dry hair down. This one rinses out much better and I love the smell. It's taken the place of my Yes to Carrots and I adore that brand. If you have thinner hair, you might use this alternately with a better clarifying shampoo just to give your hair little breaks. Thanks for stopping by!

I'm glad you made the comparison with Wen because I had been wondering if it was the same type of product. I'd love to use the, but my hair is ultra fine. I'm afraid it would be too moisturizing. I need to find something other than Wen. I love the concept, but it is too 'heavy' for my hair especially in the summer.

Ooh! This is definitely something I will have to check out! Also, have you tried the new "Clear" products? I keep seeing ads for them, and it seems rare to find a truly "NEW" company! (I suppose they are a subdivision of something, like Proctor & Gamble, but still...)

I thought it was much better, less weighing and more conditioner than the WEN. My daughter can't use it because it weighs her hair down, but she has long hair. Good to know it works for you! I'll pass that on when others ask. Thanks! xo

I have the same issue. My hair is naturally curly tangles terribly and it's impossible to comb out. This makes it easy. I just spray my ends and massage it through before using a wide-tooth comb. The cleansing conditioner is very moisturizing. Thanks for stopping by! xo

I have fine oily hair and I LOVE the cleansing conditioner. It works really well at cleansing and conditioning my hair without leaving it greasy. Granted my hair is short so it may work differently on long hair with more weight, but as an oily haired girl, I find the cleansing conditioner a great product, especially since I color my hair.

I think I will try t his out once I am done with my current shampoo and conditioner. I have tried several sulfate free products and they are never moisturizing enough for my corse, damaged hair, but I would rather use sulfate free. I think maybe because this is a cleansing conditioner I won't have that problem. My big problem is what you mentioned up above. I cannot comb through my hair using certain conditioners. Then it is a knotted mess and really tough to get a brush through.
